Media Frenzy: Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan's personal problems are her own business. We need to mind ours and quit gossiping about people we don't even know and never will know.

It is no secret that there are millions of Lindsay Lohan's in America right now, and their self-destructive ways are not a topic of national discussion. Why don't the news outlets talk about them for a while? Because their not famous? Because they won't make the tabloids money?

Just because someone is famous as a result of their career or business doesn't make their life everyone else�s business. People need to quit idolizing other human beings and realize how foolish they look when they glamorize celebrities shortcomings.

One of the biggest problems between celebrities and the rest of society, is that so many people place those that are famous �up on a pedastool�, and view them as a superior human being. When we do this, we are directly insulting ourselves, and telling the rest of the world that these celebrities are more worthy of recognition than we are. These people are not Gods. They just happened to choose a career of a popular nature and excelled enough within it to reach a celebrity status. And although many celebrities are good at what they do, and deserve recognition for their work, they are no more special than anyone else who does their job well.

There are a lot of people in America with a lot more severe problems than Lindsay Lohan, who have a lot less access to help than her. What about Joe Blow? He may be a homeless person, with little money, a drug addiction, and very few resources for help. Lindsay Lohan is person who owns a mansion, has a lot of money, a drug addiction, and many resources for help. Why isn�t Joe Blow making national news? Why isn�t he the topic of a million conversations? Why? Because he isn�t famous. Because too many of us in society idolize and adore celebrities just because their celebrities.

It�s enough to make a person want to laugh and cry at the same time at the way some of you think we are actually part of a celebrities life! It is ridiculous! Just because you might own every movie or CD by an actor or entertainer, and possibly have read every magazine and news article ever produced about them, doesn�t mean you actually know them personally. Some of you need to wake up! These celebrities have no clue who you are or that you even exist, and could probably care less.

There are people with drug addictions in and out of rehabilitation centers every day. Do other citizens even seem to care? Does Lindsay Lohan care?

Society needs to stop gossiping and taking part in the media frenzy involving celebrities and their personal lives. Their personal battles and issues are their business. People need to mind their own, and if some of you are incapable of that, then perhaps you should go find Joe Blow and lend him a helping hand. He needs it as much as anyone.
