Most network marketing companies seem to ignore the fact that they, erroneously, advertise the benefits of joining their business opportunity in the same way product benefits are advertised. Yet, the benefits of joining a business and those of buying and using any product are different things. Prospects are aware of that and, consequently, perceive a risk - in you.

When you buy products you mostly make emotional buying decisions. "It's the benefits we buy." Joining a business opportunity is not the same thing because the benefits are not the same. It's not only benefits we buy. Often, prospects buy a considerable portion of risk when making an emotional decision. Why? And what can you do better?

Why does such advertising induce a risk in prospects? Right at the first contact with you, such ads are deceptive in that they don't tell the truth when talking villas and endless time for your friends and family. These riches are effects being put before their causes for a selfish reason. It's an unbreakable truth that no effect can exist before its own cause. One needs to walk an arduously long way to achieve such riches. There is a lot of risk involved and your prospects know that, too.

Prospects associate you with the bad perception they get from the ads of network marketing companies. In their eyes, you are the risk to their safety. Alarm bells ring and they only see what you can do to them rather than for them.

Network marketing companies' ads are good at causing high expectations in prospects. The trouble really starts when these expectations are not met soon enough.

It's all about how predictable the advertised benefits really are. When you by a product, you do so to experience the benefits of using it. These benefits are pretty predictable because they are engineered into the product, thus easily available to you.

When you or your prospects join a network marketing opportunity, you will need to deal with all kinds of people, making the outcome less predictable. The less predictable any desired outcome, the higher the risk that is involved. So, the benefits are by far not as predictable, even though network marketing companies often promote them as such. Thinking prospects know that and won't trust both your advertising and you.

Especially when you promote your opportunity online to people who don't know a thing about you. Thousands are doing it this way and use those "free" hype-laden lead-capture pages provided by network marketing companies to lure prospects into the business by way of being dishonest. Remember, people join you for a reason.

That's what you can do better. Be different, honest and trusted. When prospects sense any risk, they will feel safer doing nothing - or joining someone else - than to do the next step. It's the risk that prospects perceive in you. Remove it to make them feel safer. Do it without you knowing the prospects but, with the prospects knowing about you. Your actions will show them the real you inside you.

Accept the fact that trust takes time to develop. People trust you when they know you are reliable, predictable and safe to deal with. Build a Web site, use a blog or participate in various forums and communities. Let people know about you, what you are, your hobbies, likes and dislikes. Be an expert in your field of expertise and help others without taking.

Do the opposite of what network marketing companies do. Use the risk their advertising causes in more profitable ways for you and your business. Build your business your way and not how network marketing companies want you to build it. Earn your prospects' trust. It's far better than starting relationships with a lie. Don't you agree?
